Opening Kick Off ... Open to the Public

Friday, November 15:

Reception and Gala Festival Banquet

  • The Fralinger String Band opening night performance celebrating the Mummers tradition in New Jersey and especially North Wildwood, the summer home of the Mummers.

Saturday, November 16:

Festival of Independents:

  • Screening of short, animated and experimental films and documentaries. 10AM to 5PM

Workshops:

  • Screenwriters' Workshop: by Joe Stinson, well known Hollywood screenwriter and American Film Institute screenwriting instructor. An intensive day long analysis of the various elements that make up a screenplay. Both form and substance will be examined. As will the art of the "pitch".
  • Options for Distributing Independent Films Workshop: Greg Williams,Lot 47 Films; Holly Sorenson, Shooting Gallery; Max Raab, director/producer, Strut! Seymour Mednick coproducer, Strut!

Feature Films Include:

Standing in the Shadows of Motown
One of the Festival Feature Selections
Saturday night. AllanSlutsky, author of the book and screenwriter, producer and musical arranger for the film will be present to introduce this new film about Motown's legendary back up musicians.

Strut!
New Jersey premiere of film about the Philadelphia Mummers, shot partially in North Wildwood, NJ the Mummers' summer home. The film was screened at the the Hamptons Film Festival and the Philadelphia Film Festival.

Igby Goes Down
Igby Slocumb (Kieran Culkin), a rebellious seventeen-year-old boy, is at war with the world of "old money" privilege he was born into. Susan Sarandon plays his self-absorbed and distant mother. Released in September.

Moonlight Mile
Susan Sarandon and Dustin Hoffman are the grieving parents in this new film. Released in September.

The Banger Sisters
Two friends and former rock star groupies take different paths in life. Starring Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn. Released in September.

Scotland, Pa
Comedic retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, set in a rural Pennsylvania fast food restaurant in the early 70’s. Greg Williams, CEO of Lot 47 Films, the distributor, will answer questions from the audience after the screening.

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
A group of lifelong friends stage a rather unorthodox intervention to help a young playwright let go of her painful past. Mays Landing, NJ actress Allison Bertolino who plays the role of the young Siddalee Walker discusses the film after the screening.

Feature films will be screened at Hoyt's Beach 4 Cinema, 711 Beach Ave., Cape May, NJ
