CZECH DREAM

Two thesis-level film students decide to test the bounds of propaganda and advertising by creating a full-fledged campaign for Czech Dream Hypermarket.

The only thing their campaign lacks is an actual store behind the rainbow-colored façade.

Despite advertisements like "Don't come. Don't spend," opening day still ushers in an eager and anxious crowd awaiting their promised free gifts and bargain buys.

In a humorous, disconcerting and natural way, the documentary reveals the Czech public's reaction to its nation's status as newly consumerist.

Faces of Democracy urges that you don't see this film, don't enjoy it, and don't learn from it, but it is okay to sing the catchy jingles!
