Composer - Stephen Kaminski Bio

Stephen Kaminski grew up in Edison, NJ and later went on to college in Boston, MA. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Film Scoring. Since graduating, Kaminski moved back to New Jersey and has been an active composer in the NJ, NY area.

In 1988, a few short months after graduating, Stephen found himself conducting a show at the Las Vegas Hilton main showroom with the Jan Lewan Orchestra along with the Wayne Newton Orchestra. And in 1995 composed and arranged a Grammy-nominated album. Kaminski spent the next few years musically directing live shows all over the world, including Lincoln Center in NY, the PNC Arts Center in NJ, and many other venues.

Recently Stephen was commissioned by the NJ township of Metuchen to compose an orchestral work for their 2000 centennial celebration, performed by the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra. The piece was performed again in New Brunswick for their Fourth of July concert in the park.

Stephen contributed music to the critically acclaimed ABC made-for-TV movie “When Billie Beat Bobby”. And in 2002 did the main theme for the Met-Rx Superstars on CBS. This past year Kaminski’s music has been heard on shows like “the Ananda Lewis Show”, “Christmas Lighting Live from Rockefeller Center” (NBC), “2003 Noble Peace Prize Concert” (A&E) -main theme, and many other TV specials.

Kaminski did the music for a documentary called “One of Five” which won the Best Non-fiction Short at the IFP film Festival in Chicago. He also won Best Score at the Ohio University Film Festival for his work on the film “Instant Muscles”.

And finally, Stephen just finished scoring the Saturday morning TV series “The Shaman King” to debut this September 6th at 11am on FOX. Stephen was one of a dozen composers to score the series.

Stephen also works with student filmmakers through Ohio University, donating his time and talents to help young filmmakers understand the process of scoring music for films. Kaminski now lives in South Brunswick, NJ where he still composes and produces music for films and television.
