FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Film Festival Throws Oscar Party at Beach Theatre
(So Long as There’s Oscar!)
(Cape May, NJ) “The show will go on—that is, as long as there is some type of show!” says Tom Sims, Executive Director of the Cape May New Jersey State Film Festival. Sims is referring to its traditional Oscar Party, which will be held February 24 at the Beach Theatre. “We plan to simulcast whatever event the Academy Awards hosts on whatever date they host it. We’ve been doing this party for a number of years now, and this is a perfect year to keep up the tradition—and in the perfect venue with the newly refreshed Beach Theatre!”
Even if the Oscars broadcast is less than glamorous, Sims says that will make the party more important than ever, adding “People will want to socialize, see if their favorite takes home the Oscar. It’s a great time to be with fellow movie lovers.” This month, the Golden Globes was conducted this year minus the glamour and glitz, but it still went on (albeit was a simple press conference style broadcast). And just last week, the Grammy Awards reported that it might have to cancel its glamorous show as well (no word yet on if Grammy will do a piped down press conference as well).
“We’re excited to have this party here,” says Steve Jackson, President of the Beach Theatre Foundation. “It’s a perfect fit—like when we had our Grand Reopening of the theater for the Film Festival last November. It’s no surprise that our two organizations should work so well together—it’s all about the movies.” Jackson says this party will come right on the heels of another great party the theater hosted on New Year’s Eve, adding, “We had a great time then, and we’re going to have a great time for the Oscars.”
