3rd ANNUAL OCEAN CITY FILM FESTIVAL JUNE 3rd, 4th & 5th
Ocean City, NJ, – Ocean City will be transformed into Hollywood East on June 3rd, 4th & 5th as filmmakers, actors, directors and producers make their way to the 3rd Annual Ocean City Film Festival. This year, the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the New Jersey State Film Festival, and award winning producer, Ron Rollet of the Cape May Film Festival, to present the New Jersey State Film Festival at Ocean City. The festival will feature a dazzling array of films created by a talented group of young New Jersey Filmmakers that will make this event a major “happening” in the city.
To kick off the festival weekend, the Ocean City Chamber will present a black tie fundraising gala, “Oscar Style,” on Friday June 3rd at the Flanders Hotel. This night will feature a red carpet cocktail reception, followed by dinner and dancing and topped off with the premiere screening of “Ocean City”, a warm-hearted comedy filmed in Ocean City by director Avi Glijansky. The gala will also feature a special guest star that will be presented with and award from the festival honoring their contributions to supporting youth in the arts. For more information on the Gala, or to receive an invitation, call the Chamber office at 609-399-1412.
The schedule kicks off Friday June 3rd with a Young Filmmakers Day at Ocean City High School. The festival will present two student workshops at the school’s newly formed TV/ Film/Media program where professional makeup artist Marianne Skiba and accomplished actors and producers will present a “hands-on” active participation experience of a lifetime. Saturday June 4th, will boast cutting edge Young Filmmakers debut films, followed by an afternoon Festival of Independent Shorts, then topped off with an evening feature film. The film festival will be held at the newly renovated, Strand Theatre located at 9th St. & the Boardwalk in Ocean City. Sunday June 5th, will once again feature the festival’s “Cinema Café”- meet the filmmakers brunch at the Flanders Hotel beginning at 10am.
This year’s event is expected to attract thousands of guests including directors, producers, actors and film buffs alike. Rollet plans on using the clout and contacts he has made during the last 4 years of running the Cape May New Jersey State Film Festival to bring the best New Jersey independent films and filmmakers to the Ocean City Film Festival in its third year. Tickets will be $10 for each of the daytime sessions, and $15 for the evening feature. Festival all-day passes are available for $25.00 as well as festival sponsorships.
