Saint of 9/11 Film Honors Firefighters
And raises funds for local fire departments
Showing November 18th at 7 pm and 8:45 pm in Cape May at The Church of the Advent at Washington And Franklin Streets, across from The Historic Fire Hall.
The film, “The Saint of 9/11” will be shown as part of The New Jersey State Film Festival at Cape May and will serve as a fundraiser for local fire departments. “We are happy to be able to show this amazing film and raise funds not only for our young filmmakers but also for local fire departments, said Ed Henry, Chairman of the festival.
The Film Saint of 9/11 highlights the life of Father Judge who perished in the 9/11 tragedy and was part of the NY City Fire Department where he served as the Chaplin. The film will raise money for the Cape May City, West Cape May and Cape May Point Fire departments. “We have invited all fire fighters and EMT personnel to the film for no charge, continued Henry. We wanted to give back to those who serve the community and help protect us”, stated Henry. On display will be a flag that was at the site of the tragedy, loaned to the festival by a local Cape May family.
The film will be shown with other related films that werer submitted by firefighters, entitled “Everything is on Fire” and “Firefighter”. Both are about the difficulties of dealing with fire and how treacherous training is for firefighters preparing to join the force. One admission allows entrance to all films with a $15.00 donation. Of that donation, $5.00 will be going toward the fire departments.
The film festival in association with GABLES and The Equality Forum, are presenting this documentary at the annual festival in its 6th year. “We were excited to orchestrate bringing this film to the local community be a part of helping all the local fire departments, said Vince Grimm, CEO of GABLES.
