FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Youth Program Takes Action at Seventh Annual Film Festival

(Cape May, NJ) This year, “Action!” will mean a lot more to the young filmmakers at this year’s New Jersey State Film Festival at Cape May. On November 15, the students who have been a central part of the festival’s educational programming will be on the move!

“Creating and Following the Action” is a workshop presented by Susannah Newman, Choreographer and Filmmaker. Ms. Newman's workshop is an introduction to planning, practicing and shooting movement sequences for film and video.
Fight scenes, chase scenes, and even slower paced movement sequences are choreographed for the camera. This makes it possible for the director to stage the action from the best angle and distance to artistically convey the drama. In this highly participatory workshop Ms. Newman demonstrates how students can have fun while learning the art of filming action.
The New Jersey State Film Festival at Cape May is the state’s premiere film festival dedicated exclusively to the support and presentation of creative, challenging, groundbreaking, film/video works by New Jersey filmmakers. The Festival is also the region’s leading educational and cultural resource for youth and adult learners interested in all facets of the cinematic experience. For tickets and information, contact the Film Festival office at 609-884-6700 or visit them online at www.njstatefilmfestival.com.
