SUSAN SARANDON RECEPTION NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

Susan Sarandon will share top billing with young New Jersey film makers at
the Cape May NJ State Film Festival kick off ceremonies November 14th.
The festival's opening event is now scheduled for 2PM, Thursday November 14th, at
the Congress Hall ballroom in Cape May. It's free and open to the public.

During the kick off, the film festival will pay tribute to both Sarandon and
to the many young filmmakers and artists of New Jersey. The festival's young
filmmakers will present a special short film called "Thank you, Susan"
honoring Susan Sarandon for her encouragement of young people in the arts.

Festival founder and director, Ron Rollet, says "What better way to start this
year's festival than to open it up to the public, so everyone can see both
an accomplished artist like Susan Sarandon and the new independent filmmakers
whose careers are just beginning."

Ms. Sarandon will receive the first ever New Jersey Governor's Award for
Outstanding Contribution to Jersey Arts during the ceremonies.

Participants from many New Jersey arts organizations and youth arts programs
are being invited to take part in the tribute to young artists and film
makers.

FROM MUMMERS TO MOTOWN

The festival takes on a decidedly musical theme Friday night, as the
Fralinger String Band, one of Philadelphia's famous Mummer's bands, performs
at the gala reception before the evening's New Jersey premiere of STRUT! a
film about the Mummers. Some of the film was shot on location in North
Wildwood, the Mummers summer home.

Both the film's director /producer Max Raab and co-producer Seymour Mednick
will be on hand after the screening to discuss the film.

Saturday night, the music switches to Motown, as the festival screens another
New Jersey premiere, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown." It's a film about
the back up musicians who helped propel many Motown stars to success. Allan
"Dr. Licks" Slutsky, the author of the book and the film's producer, composer
and arranger, will introduce his film and take questions afterwards.

FESTIVAL OF INDEPENDENTS

In addition to the many feature length films shown Saturday, November 16, at
the the Hoyt's Beach 4 Cinema in Cape May, there also will be dozens of short
films, documentaries and animations screened during the "Festival of
Independents" from 10AM to 5PM. For many of these filmmakers, this will be
the first chance to show their work in public.

"There are hundreds of not so well known New Jersey filmmakers and the true
purpose of this festival is to put the spotlight on them," says Rollet..

”The festival has tripled in size in just one year. The support
from New Jersey filmmakers, from local businesses and individuals, from
national independent film distributors, and from the New Jersey State Council
on the Arts and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation sends a strong message that
film is alive and well in New Jersey."

Weekend passes to the festival range in price from $75 to $125. They can be
purchased by calling (609) 884-6595. Festival schedule and updates are posted
on the festival’s web site: www.njstatefilmfestival.com
